Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve gathered answers to the questions we hear most often from parents and future team members.
If you still need help, our team is just a call or message away.

Register online through our website or contact our team and we’ll help you choose the right class. Once registration is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation and Welcome email with everything you need for your first lesson.

Once your child is enrolled in a class, you will receive an automated confirmation email which will indicate whether your child is enrolled or waitlisted along with the location, start date, and time. Each policy that you agreed to at the time of enrollment will also be included in this confirmation email. If you have any additional questions after looking over the confirmation email, please contact us at info@nashswimacademy.com.

Shortly after enrollment is processed, a Welcome Email will be sent with helpful information about where to go, what your child needs, and what to expect for the first lesson.

If your child is waitlisted for a class, we will reach out via email to confirm enrollment as soon as an opening becomes available. Once we receive confirmation from you, we will process enrollment and plan on seeing you at the next available class from your enrollment date.

Yes. New swimmers can enroll throughout the year whenever space is available. We offer year-round lessons, so there’s no need to wait for a new session to begin.

If a class is full, you can join the waitlist. We’ll contact you as soon as an opening becomes available and work with you to find another class if you’d like to start sooner.

Absolutely. As your child progresses—or if another class time works better—we’re happy to help you move into a different class whenever availability allows.

Use our Class Finder tool for a recommendation, or contact our team. We’ll help determine the best fit based on your child’s age, comfort in the water, and current swimming skills.

We welcome swimmers starting with Parent & Me classes (4–24 months) and continue through Beginner, Skill Builder, Swimmer, and Stroke Technique levels.

Choose the level that best matches their current skills. Our instructors continually evaluate progress and can recommend a move when your swimmer is ready.

Yes! Swimmers move up as soon as they demonstrate the skills and confidence needed for the next level. Classes often progress together, while instructors tailor each lesson to keep every child challenged and moving forward.

Most weekly lessons are 35 minutes long. With the exception of Parent & ME and Terrific 2s classes being 30 minutes.

We keep class sizes intentionally small so every swimmer receives individual attention while still benefiting from learning alongside other students. View our Levels Offered page for more details.

That’s completely normal. Our instructors use patience, encouragement, and gradual skill-building to help children feel safe and successful.

Please bring a swimsuit, towel, and goggles if your child is comfortable wearing them. All children under age 4 must wear a Happy Nappy—even if potty trained—to help prevent accidents in the pool. Forgot something? Our ProShop carries all the swim essentials your child may need.

Yes. Our indoor pool is heated to a comfortable 88 degrees year-round to provide a comfortable learning environment for swimmers of all ages.

Yes! Every instructor completes extensive in-house training in swim instruction, water safety, and early childhood development. Training also explores how children experience fear and stress in aquatic environments, helping instructors support each swimmer through the challenges of learning a complex new skill.

Safety is our highest priority. Lessons are supervised by trained staff following strict safety procedures to provide a safe learning environment. With the majority of our staff being lifeguard certified.

For the safety of everyone in the pool, all children under the age of 4, even if they are potty trained, must wear a snug-fitting Happy Nappy(™) swim pant, which can be used as a single layer. Happy Nappys(™) are available for purchase in our pro shop. In addition, any swimmer over the age of 4 who falls under any of the following categories may be required to wear appropriately protective clothing to prevent an accident that cause the pool to be closed: questionable bowel control, current medical limitations that might require special attention to the matter, or has shown a tendency to have accidents in the pool.

During year-round programming, all classes meet weekly. Accounts are charged on the 25th of the month for the total number of classes offered the next month (taking into consideration any closures for holidays and/or breaks). Parents can access billing information within the Parent Portal as well as update payment information and pay any outstanding balances.

All Intensive Sessions are pay-in-full upon registration.

During our Year-Round Programming, makeups are available for absences that are recorded in advance (at least 6 hours before class) in the Parent Portal. Makeups will not be provided for absences without prior proper notice.

During our Intensive Sessions, makeup options are not available.

For Year-Round Programming, enrollment and monthly billing continue until you submit our CANCELATION FORM, which serves as your required 30-day notice. Once received, we will email you to confirm your swimmer’s final class date.

Intensive Sessions are non-refundable and cannot be canceled. Transfer requests must be submitted at least seven days before the session begins and are only available if we can fill your swimmer’s spot from the waitlist.

Our annual calendar includes planned closures for major holidays. Tuition is prorated to account for these dates, and families can view current Year-Round Blackout Dates in the Nashville Swim Academy App or on our website.

Absolutely! Many of our team members are students, parents, or professionals looking for meaningful part-time work. We’ll work with you to build a schedule that fits your availability.

Not at all. We hire for attitude, patience, and a willingness to learn. We’ll provide the training you need to become a confident instructor.

The best coaches aren’t always the fastest swimmers—they’re patient, encouraging, dependable, and genuinely enjoy helping children succeed. We’ll teach the swimming. You bring the heart.

Most of our swim instructors are 18 or older. Team members under 18 typically begin as Deck Attendants, where they gain experience and develop the skills needed to become instructors. Opportunities vary based on experience and availability, so if you’re enthusiastic about working with children, we’d love to hear from you and help you find the right role at NSA.

We offer flexible scheduling with shifts available on weekday mornings and afternoons, as well as Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Many of our coaches work around school or other commitments.

Every new instructor completes paid, hands-on training before teaching independently. You’ll learn our teaching methods, safety practices, and how to support swimmers through challenges while building confidence in the water.

Most applicants hear from us within 48 hours. If we’re a good fit for each other, we’ll schedule a phone interview, invite you to meet the team, and get you started with paid training.

Our team is happy to help if you didn’t find what you were looking for.

Whether you’re looking for swim lessons for your child or a career that makes a difference every day, we’d love to welcome you to Nashville Swim Academy.
