Skilled/Advanced Swim Group Class

(Swimmer)

This class takes place in our warm instructional pool and focuses on building on swimming skills to continue to improve efficiency in the water while swimmers find more confidence in their abilities. Swimmers in this class continue to extend the distance they can swim across the pool both on their fronts and backs.

Class Requirements: Prior to joining this class, children must be able to take a deep breath and comfortably submerge for 10 seconds, float on back, push from the steps or side into a kicking glide, jump in and get back to the wall on their own, and be able to swim at least four big arm freestyle strokes.

Core competencies achieved in this class include:

Pushing into a streamlined front kick, going from a streamlined kick to swimming big arm freestyle, pushing off the wall and kicking on back, pushing off the wall on back into backstroke arms, combining big arm freestyle with rolling onto the back to breathe, independent pop-up breathing and navigation to the wall, swimming big arm freestyle with breathing, navigating around obstacles with breathing and getting to the wall, kicking on the side, diving to the bottom of the pool to get items, and introduction to the competition pool.

Class Length: 40-Minutes, Once per Week
